On one of the Cyclades’ smallest islands, Kimolos welcomed its first five-star hotel in the summer of 2025. Designed by Tessera Architects, Espera draws on the traditional architecture of Kimolos Castle, shaping a cluster of sloped walls, internal courtyards and compact volumes that feel like a sheltered village. Common areas and suites are shaped with calm in mind, where soft lighting, considered layouts and natural materials come together in a palette of earthy tones, creating spaces that feel warm and cosy. Suites such as Sunrise Escape, Cerulean Bliss and Aqua Horizon look directly over the sea, giving the impression of floating between water and sky, while Sunset Breeze offers horizons spanning both mountain and sea, capturing the island’s natural beauty 24 hours a day.
The hotel’s philosophy rests on three pillars: slow luxury, authenticity, and highly personalised service, present discreetly and only when needed. Guests are invited to unwind fully, whether in the privacy of their suite, strolling through courtyards, or pausing to watch a Kimolos sunset.
Culinary experiences are equally regarded, Amoni restaurant, led by Dimitris Dimitriadis, open to residents and non-residents alike, and showcasing local ingredients and recipes passed down through generations. Fresh fish, island vegetables, and organic produce are presented simply yet refined, highlighting the intensity of Kimolos’s flavours.
