Great White Partners bring Australian café culture to West Hollywood. The Los Angeles-based, Australian-owned brand of all-day cafés already has outposts in Larchmont Village and Venice Beach, and is inspired by a blend of coastal cultures with a focus on fresh, local, seasonal food.
Located on Melrose Avenue in an arresting pink building, Great White Melrose features a mix of old favourites alongside new additions, chef Juan Ferreiro creating a menu that takes diners from breakfast to dinner, making this all-day destination a tempting place to remain throughout the day. From overnight oats and breakfast burritos to tacos, wraps, bowls, wood-fired pizzas and larger plates, all of the fare here is simple allowing the ingredients to be the star of the show. Juices and natural wines compliment the food offering with “bright and crushable wines made by small and independent producers, where the stories are as important as the grapes.”
The 5,000 square foot space embodies the brand’s signature European-inspired aesthetic with plastered walls, soft woods, clay wall lights and zellige tiles. The eye-catching pink exterior façade, meanwhile, is colour-matched directly to one of the co-founder’s childhood home in Australia. Inside, a striking Portuguese limestone bar and large woven pendants from Pakistan are focal points alongside a large-scale painting by Berlin-based artist Danny Gretscher.
Guests looking to enjoy the Los Angeles weather can dine on the expansive outdoor patio with twin fireplaces and reclaimed cobblestone flooring, whilst the outdoor private dining room is the perfect spot for up to 12 people to enjoy intimate dinners and events.
Combining a curated fusion of food and beverage, art, architecture, design, and music, Great White Melrose fuses the very best of Australasian and West Hollywood vibes in typically decadent style for this most outgoing of cities.
