With eight stations, a hair extension education section, and bags of youthful, energetic vibes, Cole Hair Studio is Double Bay, Sydney‘s salon of choice for the Instagram set. With interiors straight out of the glossy pages from Nickolas Gurtler Interior Design (NGID), it’s not hard to see why.
Spanning 120 square metres, the design of the salon was inspired by the glamour and sophistication of Tom Ford’s 1990s Gucci era, in particular a 1996 runway show for the Italian fashion house. Combining style and soul, Gurtler tells us “fashion is a passion that makes its way into all my projects. I like to generate a feeling in a space and in this instance, also celebrating a notion of powerful femininity.”
Working closely with Cole Hair Studio owner, Mariah Rota, the fashion-forward salon features a sleek palette of chrome detailing, mirrors, black leather, custom made walnut and Italian bouclé sofas, and hand-plastered stucco and fused glass. Capacious and modern, it’s a place to see and be seen whilst customers are being transformed into their best selves.
“Hair is such as 360-degree experience for the customer and the hairdresser as sit needs to be seen and appreciated from all angles. We needed to create an environment that could fully showcase the incredible hair artistry,” continues interior design talent, Nickolas Gurtler.
With more than 12 years of experience and the accolade of being known as one of Sydney’s leading hair experts, Mariah Rota has put together an international team of stylists, who are on hand to pamper and preen both her celebrity clientele and the common folk with equal flair and attention to detail.
With glamour and sleek styling complementing top drawer hairdressing in the ritzy harbourside Sydney suburb of Double Bay, Cole Hair Studio is a fine example of bringing fashion to a physical space.
