The stylish and leafy neighbourhood of Roma in sprawling Mexico City is home to Motín, a new all-day café that focusses on delicious plates—some naughty, some healthy, all mouthwateringly divine; much like their effervescent backdrop, a buoyant blast of candy pink and brilliant blue.
The latest project from the folk behind Condesa cheese specialist cum brunch restaurant, Quesería de Mí, colourful interiors and excellently mischievous branding make Motín the ideal spot to meet friends, catch up on emails, or meet for afterwork drinks—all whilst enjoying a menu that consists of pastries, fruit bowls, açai bowls, pancakes and waffles, eggs many ways, and house specialties like chilaquiles and avocado toast; each made with creativity and passion.
Creative studio Futura designed the impossible-to-ignore branding, packaging, and interior aesthetics—plunging in at the deep end with a colour palette of pinks, blues, and yellows; a fun-loving identity ensured through the application of a ‘glutton hamster’ whose eyes are bigger than his belly. With local studio Solvar executing the interiors, Motín is a Gesamtkunstwerk of millennial-friendly lovability that will have visitors reaching straight for their smartphones.
Ramping things up come noon, the wine corks are popped, with Motín becoming your home-from-home for afternoon and into the evening. With style and personality, hip Roma has a new destination for the style-savvy hungry for on-trend cuisine.
