At the intersection of Marylebone, Mayfair and Soho, a new five-star hotel conjures the singular essence of Marylebone Lane’s village-like aura. An ode to “life on the Lane,” The BoTree distills all the style and elegance of Marylebone, a seriously swanky ‘hood that still manages to maintain a community feel deep in the very heart of the capital.
Charged with the task of bringing that neighbourhood charm, complete with its upmarket elegance, inside the walls of BoTree, Concrete Amsterdam have designed the interiors for the luxury hotel, including The BoTree Bar, its lobby, and 199 rooms and suites; the latter some of the most thoughtfully considered living spaces we’ve seen in recent times.
“In the evolving landscape of hotel rooms, sleep remains crucial, but today’s guests expect more,” explains Rob Wagemans, creative director and founder of Concrete. “A hotel room is now a central hub in a guest’s city experience, not just a place to rest. The BoTree’s reinvented guest rooms exemplify this shift; we’ve eliminated traditional boundaries, creating open, flexible spaces. At The BoTree, our rooms offer a temporary city residency, embracing the modern guest’s lifestyle.” And some ‘temporary city residency’ they are, the suites inspired by flowers and fashion, and each named after a local street, bearing a unique character while preserving the hotel’s signature blend of sophistication and comfort.
Sliding doors make use of Japanese-inspired paper, and materials such as oak wood, gold accents, marble, ribbed marble tiles, fluted glass, and frosted glass are used throughout the suites; rich craftsmanship and attention for detail elevating the luxury-forward experience that The BoTree will become renowned for. Spacious as well as stylish, the guest rooms are zoned for optimum appreciation of city living; the use of smart spatial planning lending itself to the ethos of bringing the neighbourhood feel into the hotel.
At the corner of Henrietta Place and Marylebone Lane, The BoTree Bar offers a fuses luxury with warm hospitality, and is set to attract locals as well as hotel guests and passers-by with its inviting street view and connection to the hotel lobby. Inspired by a peacock’s tail and the notion of ‘peacocking’, the outgoing interior features a vibrant colour palette of emerald green, deep royal blue, and turquoise, with custom furniture and brass-inlaid terrazzo flooring. A dynamic lighting system shifts from a warm glow during the day to petrol and red tones in the evening, creating a relaxing or lively ambiance. An illuminated backwall with eclectic artefacts, a bespoke green marble countertop, and strategically placed mirrors further enhance the bar’s charm and spatial perception.
Additional eclectic art objects can be found in the lobby’s welcome display, curated by Artlink and showcasing the talents and narratives that can be found in the community of artists and creators living in London; another element of the hotel’s intention to show off the very best of its surrounding area within its walls. Elsewhere in the lobby, wooden fins span from the floor to the ceiling in a curved line, creating a natural flow through different zones; this beautiful craftsmanship adding a natural warmth that makes you want to snuggle in for a cosy couple of hours. Warm and inviting, rich in art and with a touch of nature, the BoTree lobby is the epitome of the hotel’s desire to be an integral part of the Marylebone community.
