Located in one of the oldest palazzos in Venice, and housed in a 13th-century Venetian-Byzantine palace, The Venice Venice Hotel is owned by husband and wife team Francesca Rinaldo and Alessandro Gallo, and pays homage to ‘La Dominante’ and the building it occupies in this remarkable city; the hotel straddling classical with comfortable through heritage finesse and rebellious exhilaration.
A member of The Aficionados, the hotel has benefited from a five-year restoration that began with a major rethink needed after the hotel had stood abandoned for decades. Paying attention to the bones of the building, the considerate reconstruction preserved the soul of the structure, including the Byzantine exterior, brass windows and doors, and the original Venetian staircase that was in fact dissembled, restored and refitted exactly as was.
Facing the Rialto Bridge on the Grand Canal, guest rooms feature stunning views and a design palette that speaks the language of a new Venetian style, Rinaldo and Gallo wanting to create a design hub that would become the zenith of their ideas, and a canvas for their own burgeoning art collections.
Alongside heritage features, guests will revel in an eclectic take on art curation and interior design, fusing the old with the new via tapestries, paintings, photography and sculptures set against the tactile patina of age. They must also pay attention to a mirror frame created from 500-year-old clay sourced from the hotel’s foundations and set to a traditional Venetian style by a modern artist, as well as a soberly lit sculpture by Fabio Viale, entitled Piet Senza Cristo.
With international allure combined with Venice’s avant-garde soul, The Venice Venice Hotel invites travellers to immerse themselves in a unique blend of history and contemporary creativity, offering an unforgettable experience that celebrates the city’s rich heritage while embracing the spirit of innovation. A captivating destination where every corner tells a story, where the past and the present seamlessly coexist in creating a truly exceptional stay for discerning travellers, this is a hotel so good they named it twice.
