Karen Mabon, The Birds Scarf

Birds, never been much of fan of them to be honest. Growing up by the seaside I spent years swerving acts of defecation; on a recent visit home I watched as my sister wrestled to regain control of her fresh-made sandwich … needless to say, she proceeded to chuck it straight into the bin.

The scene played out on designer Karen Mabon’s 100% silk scarf is one all too familiar to me, to many for that matter — anybody who’s watched Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 flick The Birds. Inspired by the iconic thriller, and its leading lady Tippi Hedren (she who revealed the auteur’s dark side), the striking square scarf with dusty blues, mint greens and flesh tones is a true work of craftsmanship; printed in Italy, before final touches added in the UK.
