PNY Marais

Paris New York burger chain goes tropical with Miami-inspired outlet in the Marais...

Even the sophisticated diners of Paris occasionally give the haute cuisine a miss in favour of a good burger, and judging by the company’s rapid expansion it seems the burgers from the PNY (Paris New York) chain are better than most. This outlet in the Marais is the third PNY branch, and it couldn’t be less Parisian if it tried. Which it has. Designed by CUT Architectures, the restaurant takes diners on a trip across the pond to the sunny climes of Miami.

Pastel pink and turquoise metal frames and white tabletops evoke the Floridian city’s signature palette at PNY Marais, and the mural of wooden blocks, set against a backdrop of pale cloudy blue and sunset pink, are abstract representations of the trunks of palm trees — given organic life by the nearby baskets of cascading plants and potted cacti. Downstairs there’s a cool terrazzo floor, replaced by a wooden one on the upper level, and an outdoor café-style dining area too. A quick word on the burgers, which are made from aged beef and come with hand-cut fries, and it’s all cooked to order. This is still Paris, after all…
