With a hundred and one travel guides around, where do you start? We search for the boutique, the different, the secret and the spectacular. The printed aides cover the basics, the budget and the cultural, yet modern travellers are looking for more. As subjective as hand-picked style guides are, for those places we know little about we look to the trusted, the in-the-know.
The wayfaring team behind visually-minded Cereal Magazine have just released a series of downloadable city guides that harness their meticulous aesthetic. GUIDED is written and photographed by a whole host of on-location ambassadors. From Austin to Seoul, the guides aim to highlight the new, interesting and unique in each city. Including carefully-curated cafés, stores, restaurants and hotels; an initial ten guides are ready to go.
Editor Rosa Park explains: “travel is my biggest passion, and Cereal is a reflection of that. So many of my friends and family ask me for tips and recommendations on various cities I’ve visited, and one day I thought to myself, I should create city guides done in a uniquely Cereal way to share with our readers. Travel is a very personal proposition so it’s difficult to have one perfect guide that suits everyone, but if you like what we do at Cereal and trust our taste, then GUIDED is for you. Like our print title, all of the content on GUIDED is original and exclusive. We’ve sent photographers and writers to each one of these locations to generate the content after I’ve personally selected the locations after visiting the city. I have consciously made the guides online so that they’re always up to date and ever evolving.”
Aside from their striking visuals, a nominal annual fee will allow you to download them and take them anywhere you so choose. With an introduction to each city, key metrics and around twenty places to explore, the content aims to stay current and regularly updated. Why drag paper around on your travels when you can neatly and cheaply download your chosen city guide in seconds?
