Blown Away

Intricate Day of the Dead replica weapons from Rage Handcraft for colette...

You know the space on your mantelpiece that’s been crying out for a super intricate hand-crafted hand-grenade with mind-blowing Day of the Dead beadwork? You are in luck my friends, the talented Rage Handcraft team from Mexico City have got just what you’re looking for: the Todos Muertos collection produced in partnership with the unswervingly stylish colette, and featuring the Paris concept store’s signature blue.

The Attack Set comes with other beautifully put-together instruments of death as well – uzi, .45 and for those who wish to make a very personal statement, knuckledusters – which are really wooden replicas underneath, and stand on perspex display plinths. The design and craft methods come from the Hiuchol community of Mexico, as do the Ragers, and use a wax base into which the beads are fixed. Of course, not everyone wants a handcrafted blue bead weapon set, which is why they are available in eight other colours from Rage themselves. They have also produced a couple of eye-bogglingly brilliant Be@rbrick models that with have vinyl toy geeks literally frothing at the mouth, along with more traditional animal skulls and a human version featuring the worst dentistry since Mike Myers last slipped in his Austin Powers falsies. Staggering.
