Trevose Harbour House, St Ives

Boutique B&B offers the quintessential British holiday...

Sorry Skegness, but when it comes to British seaside holidays, the best bet is to head south for the clement climes of Cornwall. St Ives, on the northern coast of the peninsula, has won all the tourism awards under the sun, and when Angela and Olivier Noverraz got the chance to put their experience working for others in the hospitality sector to use at their own place, the port town was where they chose to put their towels down.

Trevose Harbour House is the couple’s charming little boutique guesthouse, offering five standard rooms and a roof suite, all with great views of the harbour. If you put your nose close enough to the computer screen you should be able to smell the salt air – this is quintessential seaside resort accommodation very smartly delivered in a mixture of retro and contemporary styles. Objects from the mid-century heyday of homegrown holidays sit alongside more modern examples of design here, and chief among the features that make Trevose so redolent of the area is the blue and white colour scheme, which echoes that of traditional cornishware ceramics.
