Once a party bar where locals would be found drinking and dancing into the small hours, No.5 has evolved. Located at Monte Cassino 5, the multi-tap craft beer bar now focuses on what it does best, and that’s pair fresh beer with great food. With 20 taps of craft brews and a Tex-Mex menu offering, the team at this Sopot bar might well be new, but the passion, energy and good vibes remain the same.
Designers PB/STUDIO were in charge of the impressive interior design refit—creating an an 18-metre-long bar with a monolith concrete countertop for patrons to sit around as they sample a selection of the many beers on tap. Likewise, towards the front of the establishment, mid-century modern sofas, chairs and tables are accompanied by plants and artwork, at times resembling a plush café rather than a bar; it’s the ideal spot for people watching whilst enjoying a beer in style.
Further inside and the tone is a moodier one. Here, the aesthetics are based on a juxtaposition of the existing industrial elements of the building with a more elegant vibe—think terrazzo flooring, upholstered furniture and dark-tinted oak wood. Raw carbon steel sheets clad the bar, exposed brick walls add to the mood, and the No.5 motif hangs from the ceiling beside industrial lighting. A variety of seating arrangements from red banquettes to tall stools makes a transition from ‘comfortable’ afternoon drinks to more social evening sessions a seamless one; the long and narrow space great to mingle with fellow beer fanatics and swap a tipple and tale or two.
Sopot’s No.5 may have shed their previous image, but with captivating interiors you won’t want to leave, coupled with top craft brews and bags of character, the party might not be over just yet.
