Lavish new members' club Ned’s Club Washington, DC is a masterclass in architectural harmony and old-world opulence...

Opening its doors in February 2025, Ned’s Club Washington, DC marks the second collaboration between Soho House’s luxury brand and the design and architecture experts at Stonehill Taylor. Set across the 9th to 12th floors of two historic buildings in the heart of the capital — once home to the storied Riggs and American Security banks — this 21st century members’ club is a masterclass in architectural harmony and old-world opulence updated.

Stonehill Taylor’s architectural team connected the Walker and American Security Bank buildings while preserving their distinct façades: one leaning into Art Deco grandeur, the other steeped in Neoclassical elegance. Inside, the transformation is dramatic. Think De Stijl-inspired mosaic floors, rich mixed metals, and hand-painted de Gournay wallpaper that pays homage to the city’s cherry blossoms as well as the original stonework of the Walker Building.

From the moment you step into the historic lobby and glide upward, there’s a cinematic shift. The 9th floor opens into a series of spaces. The members’ library features vintage mantels and a bold striped wallcovering inspired by images of the Obama White House. A mellow space throughout the day, come nightfall the library turns lively with a functioning bar and undercurrent of jazz-age indulgence. The adjoining parlour, draped in Kennedy-era murals and bold colour palettes, channels a sense of nostalgia, connecting members with the property’s storied past.

The restaurant-lounge with views over the Washington Monument serves up serious atmosphere, with a stage set for live music and a fireplace that encourages socialisation among members. For more intimate affairs, the Founders Dining Room gazes toward the White House, its stained glass and wood paneling exuding warmth, offset by a solarium-style ceiling and Kennedy-inspired carpeting.

Up top, the conservatory is embellished with lush greenery, wicker furniture and soft, floral upholstery. With views including the White House, Treasury Building, and Washington Monument, this is quite the enchanting space to spend an evening.

In a city known for its institutions, Ned’s Club Washington, DC offers a new kind of sanctuary. For those able to fork out the regular membership of $5,000 per year with a one-time $5,000 joining fee, Ned’s Club Washington, DC is a charismatic ode to classic poise and presence.
