Primavera Sound Barcelona 2024

Barcelona's stupendous summer curtain-raiser is back for another extravagant edition of diversity, diversion and debauchery...

It doesn’t seem two minutes since Primavera Sound’s 12 day post-pandemic extravaganza shook us out of our suspended animation, but two years later it is time once more to shake off the cold month’s cobwebs and get excited about Barcelona’s official start to the summer; the city’s Parc del Fòrum again set to be the epicentre of a musical quake that promises good vibes, great company and an even greater lineup.

From 29 May to 2 June, Primavera Sound will be back in the Catalan capital exclusively, and again putting the queens of the scene at the forefront: the likes of Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs, PJ Harvey, Charli XCX, Beth Gibbons, Peggy Gou and Róisín Murphy ensuring that the festival’s famous approach to diversity is well and truly catered for. Elsewhere, French electronica giants Justice stir from a slumber that will soon see them release their first album in ten years, compatriots Phoenix will return to the festival circuit, as will big names such as Deftness, Clipse and Vampire Weekend, whilst British icons Pulp will be celebrating their sixth decade as part of their ‘second’ reunion tour.

Elsewhere, Jai Paul, who was one of the most anticipated acts at last year’s Coachella thanks to it being his first ever live show after having only released three singles in 12 years, will be bringing his enigma to the Mediterranean coast; one can expect the unexpected from locally based Björk collaborator, Arca; riot girrrl pioneers Bikini Kill will be in town; there’ll be pop, jazz, black metal, hardcore, hip hop, house and more; Shellac will, of course, perform; Keanu Reeves’s Dogstar will make a rare appearance; Freddie Gibbs and Madlib will commemorate the tenth anniversary of Piñata; the Primavera a la Ciutat programme will bring names including Yo La Tengo and American Football to small venues in the city centre; and Brit faves Mica Levi, Romy and Disclosure will be among over 150 artists bringing their singular sounds to Barcelona.

With the second release of the full festival ticket and VIP option now on sale from 295€ and 545€ respectively, and day tickets from 125€ and 185€ (VIP), it’s time for eager fans of music and festivities to jump aboard the train bound summer 2024’s curtain-raiser.
