Located within landmark hotel ‘InterContinental Edinburgh The George’, Riccardo Giraudi’s Le Petit Beefbar marks the brand’s first foray into Scotland and, born from a desire to create a destination to enjoy magnificent meat, promises to take diners on a culinary journey that includes some of the best cuts in the world.
3Stories were tasked with the design of the space, which had to blend seamlessly with the interiors of the hotel located within an iconic building in one of Edinburgh‘s most prestigious streets. As such, the overall experience is divided into two distinct areas allowing for guest to choose from the casual eatery and bar, or the fine dining restaurant. While the casual dining space occupies the street-facing side of the property, showcasing a spacious, centrally located bar and inviting lounge-style seating, the restaurant is set towards the rear and has been crafted to provide an ideal environment for an intimate and impeccable dining experience.
The casual eatery complements the property’s inherent charm, enhancing the existing character whilst introducing a more modern essence for the brand. Custom glass wall lamps and pleated fabric pendants give the space an ambient glow and highlight the decorative lime plastered ceiling and wall panels.
Notable features of the fine dining area include a statement skylight that bathes the space in natural light, contributing an elegant aura. Banquettes along the perimeter delineate sections within the room providing spaces for both small as well as larger gatherings without the necessity for imposing screens. A grand piano rests on an elevated platform allowing for subtle live music to enhance the culinary atmosphere from brunch through to evening.
With Giraudi’s family having been considered pioneers in the beef industry for over 50 years, the menu draws on global influences and finds inspiration in traditional steakhouses alongside presenting comforting street food dishes from Japan, Mexico and Europe. Le Petit Beefbar not only sources the finest cuts of meat from Scotland and beyond, but the freshest produce and ingredients that reflect the diversity of Edinburgh’s culinary scene.
