Llama Restaurante Sudamericano

Creative dream-team brings a taste of South America to Copenhagen...

We are reliably informed that Llama is not so called because of what goes into the burgers. Instead, it’s one of Denmark’s first purveyors of South and Central American cuisine, having recently opened up in Copenhagen as the latest venture from restaurant group Cofoco. Llama – Restaurante Sudamericano, to give it the full beans, has had the input of some of Copenhagen’s most creative minds, with Lars Larsen of Kilo, BIG‘s Jakob Lange and Bjarke Ingels, and Jonas Hartz of Hz all contributing to the concept, look and layout here.

What was once a dingy basement has been brought into the light, connected to the city outside by glass-walled stairs. Colourful handmade Mexican ceramic tiles have been used to up the energy of the lobby area, and while things are still dark in the dining area, it’s the pleasant dimness of an intimate corner, rather than the eerie blackness of a catacomb. On the menu you will find ceviches, antichucos, Uruguayan-style meat dishes, tacos, and all sorts of exotic booze to wash it down with. But definitely no Llamas.
