Brasserie Angelica, Fitzrovia

Fitzrovia’s Brasserie Angelica brings Northern European comfort cooking and Art Deco poise to The Newman’s hospitality proposition...

Brasserie Angelica has opened alongside Gambit Bar within The Newman hotel, marking the latest hospitality project from London-based group Kinsfolk & Co. Designed by LIND + ALMOND, the all-day brasserie introduces a refined yet approachable dining destination to Fitzrovia, operating from breakfast through to late evening, seven days a week.

Conceived as a contemporary brasserie, the restaurant reflects the pace and character of its surrounding neighbourhood. The food offering focuses on comforting classics using high-quality ingredients sourced from leading London suppliers and UK producers. Led by executive chef Christian Turner, the menu carries clear Northern European influences, with curing and smoking techniques used to bring clarity and balance to familiar dishes.

Starters include gravlax with fermented cucumber salad and Västerbotten cheese tart with smoked onion purée and broad beans, followed by dishes such as Sutton Hoo chicken pie with cep cream sauce, confit duck leg with haricot beans and parsley salad, and double-tranche of halibut. Premium meats and seafood are cooked atop a wood-fire grill, while sides and desserts range from potato and sprat gratin to crème caramel with toasted brioche and blueberry tart with lemon curd. Smaller sweet bites offer a lighter finish.

The dining room seats up to 100 guests, with a dedicated bar area and a further 24 covers on the street-side terrace. At lunchtime, a bespoke sandwich trolley circulates through the space, offering a quick and informal option. Private dining is accommodated in the Talland room for up to 20 guests, with the more intimate Little Talland seating 12; both are named after Virginia Woolf’s former holiday home.

Interiors blend historic references with contemporary detailing. Art Deco illustrations, Victorian-style joinery, and glass panelling sit within a largely monochrome palette, with graphic elements acknowledging Fitzrovia’s cultural figures, including Nancy Cunard. Bespoke plywood details reference the work of furniture designer Gerald Summers, whose Charlotte Street workshop played a role in shaping the area’s design heritage.

Together with Gambit Bar next door, Brasserie Angelica forms part of a wider hospitality offering within The Newman, positioning itself as a dependable local address for all-day dining in the heart of Fitzrovia.
