SLS has landed on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island, and with it arrives one of the Red Sea’s most visually charged new resorts. Now officially open, SLS The Red Sea brings the brand’s unmistakable mix of bold design, social energy and playful irreverence to a destination shaping the future of regenerative tourism.
Set at the heart of Shura Island and framed by sugar-soft sands and luminous waters, the resort unfolds through winding pathways and lush planting, revealing a series of coral-inspired buildings designed by Foster + Partners. Colour is woven throughout from unexpected details, sculptural forms, to the Saudi debut of the iconic SLS duck, which pops up with knowing humour alongside cheeky monkey motifs.
Accommodation spans 150 guestrooms, suites and villas, each defined by expressive luxury andtexture and tone. Natural materials meet bold detailing, while thoughtful touches elevate the experience from Ortigia Ambra Nera bath amenities and embroidered robes to a reworked minibar stocked with premium non-alcoholic spirits and elevated aperitivo snacks. The private villas turn up the heat a notch, offering beachfront locations, private pools, expansive terraces and dedicated living spaces.
Food and drink play a central role. Floating World introduces a Japanese-inspired concept influenced by Edo-era pleasure culture, serving refined yet accessible plates such as prawn katsu sandos, miso-glazed black cod and robata-grilled Wagyu, finished with a traditional tea ritual. London favourite Seabird arrives in Saudi Arabia for the first time, delivering seafood towers, oyster feasts and Iberian-influenced dishes alongside late-night desserts. Elsewhere, Fi’lia brings its familiar Italian warmth, Deluxe moves seamlessly from café to aperitivo bar, and The Perch keeps things lively poolside with DJ sets, sangrias and house-bottled infusions delivered straight to cabanas.
Wellness comes via Ciel Spa, home to six treatment rooms and an indoor–outdoor hydrotherapy pool, with a menu spanning HydraFacials, LED therapies and Biologique Recherche protocols. Outside, the island’s largest pool hosts DJ-led afternoons and weekend events, cementing SLS The Red Sea as a social destination as much as a design-led escape.
