Moss opens at 520 Fifth Avenue, immediately at home among Midtown Manhattan’s architectural mix. Set across four expansive floors, the concept unites culture, wellness, hospitality, and community for a new generation of New Yorkers who want their social life and their self-care under the same roof.
Founded by sisters Colleen and Hailey Brooks, the members club is built around two principles: Intelligent Leisure and Physical Culture. The first plays out through a programme of exhibitions, performances, salons, and supper clubs designed to encourage conversation, the second takes shape below ground at BEDROCK Aquatics & Athletics, a 20,000 square foot world of movement and recovery featuring a hammam, plunge pools, saunas, and dedicated training spaces.
Interiors come courtesy of Charles & Co, with Vicky Charles creating rooms that balance Fifth Avenue finesse with an atmosphere akin to a private home. Kohn Pedersen Fox’s (KPF) architecture introduces oversized arched windows, pulling daylight across Venetian plaster, hand-printed wallpapers, and a marble corner bar that forms one of the club’s visual signatures. A Steinway Baby Grand sets the tone for evenings in the piano lounge, while an art programme curated with WOAH (Work of Art Holdings) and Platform weaves contemporary work throughout this inspired building.
Food and drink offerings are led by chef Angela Zeng, whose New American cooking at Babette draws on French technique and East Asian influence. Bar Babette is a lavish affair overlooking Fifth Avenue with a raw bar and classics, while Lil’s offers a quieter, more nocturnal setting for cocktails and live piano. Higher up, The Symposium brings members together for talks, performances, and openings, with Inklings, a library bar serving multi-course menus and experimental cocktails. Off The Record houses the club’s vinyl listening room, which doubles as a private karaoke space. A games room, podcast studio, and a series of private rooms complete the upper floors.
Inspired by the thoughtful hospitality and warmth of London’s exclusive private haunts, and the global traditions of community and wellness found in spas and bathhouses worldwide, with Moss, the Brooks sisters have set out to create a club that reflects the diverse cultural fabric of New York and brings together all the heady needs of the modern Manhattanite.
