Masquespacio return to Madrid with a new chapter for Egeo, unveiling a mature, atmospheric space shaped by myth and history. Designed by studio founders Ana Hernández and Christophe Penasse, the 50 square metre restaurant marks an evolution from their earlier Valencia collaboration, dialling down youthful energy in favour of a space steeped in narrative.
This time the designers looked to the myth of Pandora. After Zeus punished humanity by having Prometheus steal fire, Pandora opened a box releasing all evils, yet hope remained … even in the darkest moments. It’s this tension between darkness and renewal that underpins Masquespacio’s latest interior for Egeo Suvlakeria. Soft beige tones dominate, creating sophistication, while sharp hits of electric blue offer a contemporary thread back to Egeo’s identity. The palette sets the stage for a design language that feels newly unearthed.
The standout feature is a series of cladding columns produced via 3D printing. Their organic, stratified texture nods to marble quarries and the ruins of classical Greece, but the execution is thoroughly modern, an engineered echo of antiquity.
“After the vibrant experience in Valencia, for Madrid we wanted to offer a more introspective vision of Egeo, recognising its trajectory,” explains art director Ana Hernández. “The myth of Pandora provided us with a rich narrative to explore the duality between difficulty and hope, translating into a space with a deeper and more reflective beauty. The choice of beige tones and touches of electric blue connect with the brand, while the 3D-printed columns are a dramatic reinterpretation of antiquity, merging the solidity of marble with a contemporary vision.”
With its folklore concept, sculptural detailing and softened palette, Egeo Chamberí is poised to become a destination where design and gastronomy coalesce in Madrid’s famed culinary scene.
