First featured on these very pages back in 2019, Palazzo Daniele is an aristocratic residence turned contemporary art hotel in Italy’s Puglia region that has since become synonymous with minimalist grandeur and avant-garde hospitality. Six years on, the 163 year old neoclassical palazzo unveils a striking new chapter; introducing a series of meticulously crafted suites and a reimagined left wing realised in collaboration with Milan-based Palomba Serafini Studio.
The design evolution is low-key, preserving the drama of original ceilings and mosaic floors while layering in a restrained materiality that sharpens the hotel’s artistic vision. The common areas, reshaped from a former carriage house and 20th century oil mill, have been updated with unexpected heritage details; most notably three original hydraulic presses that sit at the heart of a new communal living space. Characterised by a Pierre Paulin-designed Osaka sofa and custom iron furnishings, the room spills into a lushly landscaped garden framed by a towering cypress tree.

The new dining room is home to a custom iron table and sculptural lighting installation by Nassi, setting the scene for Palazzo Daniele’s new ‘Social Table program,’ a monthly gathering designed to bring guests together over Apulian flavours, conversation, and artistic workshops.
Upstairs, a trio of Royal Suites push the hotel’s distinct aesthetic into bold new territory. Vaulted ceilings, floating beds, and sculptural bathtubs carved from historic stone offer immersive stays. One suite features an eleven-sided rainfall shower as its central design element, another preserves stage basin relics as functional art, while the third boasts literary touches and mosaic flooring for a more intimate feel. A refined new Executive Suite rounds out the expansion, complemented by an 11-square-metre cocciopesto bathroom, and impressive views over the Palazzo’s Court of Honour.
With its deep respect for heritage and minimalist provocation, Palazzo Daniele’s latest evolution reinforces its place — alongside its awe-inspiring sister apartment-hotel, G-Rough Rome — as one of southern Italy’s most inspiring destinations.
