MOGO, Milan

Milan hi-fi bar MOGO sees music, mixology, and modern Japanese cuisine coalesce within a design devotee's dream venue...

In Milan’s ever-evolving Isola district, MOGO has arrived on the scene, offering a destination where music, mixology, and modern Japanese cuisine come together in a high-design setting that will have aesthetics addicts frothing at the mouth.

A new entry into the city’s increasingly sophisticated nightlife landscape, the 400 square metre venue channels the spirit of Tokyo’s jazz kissaten while carving out a distinct identity rooted in Milanese sensibility. The name itself is taken from the South African word Mmogo — meaning ‘together’ — which frames the venue’s ethos: a space for shared, elevated experiences.

Designed by Giorgia Longoni Studio, MOGO’s interiors are bold yet meditative. A luminous ceiling shifts tone from day to night, casting light across textures including steel, carved wood, raw fabrics, metal, and washi paper. Blue flooring and moss-green accents punctuate the palette, while a private barefoot room and hand-woven tapestries by Andrea Corvino add further dimension. A designer DJ booth perfectly matches the venue’s key components, and was created to both welcome and impress; as was the 360-degree bar surrounded by a sound-focussed layout, merging spatial aesthetics with sonic intent.

Chef Yoji Tokuyoshi oversees the culinary direction, lending credibility from his acclaimed Milanese ventures. The menu offers a nuanced take on Japanese tradition filtered through a contemporary lens, with a focus on authenticity and accessibility. Business lunches, evening dining, and weekend brunches extend the venue’s rhythm across daily rituals; high fidelity sounds guaranteed.

Cocktails span classics and house signatures, underpinned by a carefully assembled collection of Japanese whiskies, mezcal, sake, and organic wines. The bar’s position within the room acts as a centrepiece, drawing energy toward its core.

MOGO’s defining feature is without a doubt its sound. A bespoke hi-fi audio system anchors the venue as a true listening bar. Musical curation comes via Polifonic and Burro Studio’s label BSR, bringing both emerging and established names into the fold for intimate sets. A rooftop terrace and 600 square metre multifunctional space round out the offering, establishing MOGO as both a cultural hub and a sanctuary for intentional listening.

Combining brilliance with innovation, MOGO is a new landmark for those seeking an immersive experience of fine dining, innovative mixology, and extremely high quality sound.
