United Colors of Benetton, In Love We Trust

"In Love We Trust" announce United Colors of Benetton at the launch of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's latest ode to positivity...

“In Love We Trust” is the message that Benetton’s designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac wanted to send out to the rest of the world, with his latest collection. He did it with vibrant colours and with the chic Italian silhouettes we are already used to, from the brand. Everyone came out to celebrate in London, from Vivienne Westwood to La Roux. Here is what you missed.

Get Ready for Technicolour

This event was held to launch a new collection that has nothing to envy of a rainbow. From wall to wall, you would have been dazzled by a blitz of vibrant colours that would have kept you awake, even after your third cocktail, offered by CIROK Vodka. And they were as sweet as the evening was.

If you were lucky enough to leave with a souvenir of the evening, wrapped in custom printed ribbon from the brand, then you will remember that wild, energetic evening, every time you wear it. But hopefully you are not scared of yellows, bright pink and green, otherwise, you will have a hard time wearing the new designs from the Benetton master, who also was a part of the main event.

Celebrating Jean-Charles de Castelbajac

It has now been four years, since this fashion legend joined the ranks of Benetton, as Artistic Director. This genius has seen some of the greatest stars worldwide wear his clothes, from Madonna to Beyoncé. His own particular style has been a great match to the use of vibrant colours by the Benetton brand. He was able to play with the chic, yet prêt-à-porter style, that the brand offers its clients, in a unique way.

For a man who has also dipped his fingers into paint and various other art forms, there is nothing as exciting as being able to use all the colours of the rainbow and create clotheslines. Especially when one of your inspirations is surrealism. This latest collection, featured at Benetton’s main boutique in London, was a full celebration of his art, which brought a joyous and youthful touch to the celebration.

Looking to Bring Hope to the World

By calling the new collection “In Love We Trust,” Castelbajac was looking to bring hope to the world through a renaissance of life. He said that it was also true about himself, as he was coming out with a ground-breaking capsule. He came up with the title by paraphrasing USA’s national motto “In God We Trust.” One of the major pieces is the slogan sweater, on which it is written boldly “LOVE.”

The collection contains some elements of camo and tone-on-tone colour palettes. It also features printed denim and some kind of rubber fabric. Castelbajac said that his objective was to revisit and even revolutionise the canons of classic imagery. That is why he touched upon chic outerwear and mixed it with camouflage, going as far as including the American flag in it.

In the end, you get a completely modern and contemporary style that wants to bring families together, under the value of a bright colourful life. Something we could all use a bit more of these days.
