ZENSE: The Rebirth

It's hip to be square at relaunched Bangkok resto-bar...

With a name like a science fiction B-movie and an interior like a futuristic update of Tetris, we know where the software programmers and astrophysicists of Bangkok will be spending their free time after the relaunch of a popular restaurant-bar hybrid destroyed by fire in the 2010 riots.

Actually Zense: The Rebirth is going to prove pretty popular with everyone, PhD or not, if we’re any judge – this is 80million of your Thai Baht (£1.75million) well spent. The Zen shopping centre forked out to bring their much-missed top floor venue back to life after catastrophic damage sustained during the political unrest. Something of a phoenix-like rise from the flames has been effected by Department of ARCHITECTURE and lighting designers Accent Studios, who between them haven’t missed a step in their redesign; steel light fixtures descending in stages from the ceiling and staircase hand-rails forming terraced access points give this place a video game feel lent a sophisticated sheen from rich magenta and purple features. It’s hip to be square.
