Infamous provocateur explores a world of absolute sexuality...

Provocative and confrontational, Barcelona-based German street artist – turned conceptual agitator – Boris Hoppek, refuses to be drawn on his questionable content. From allegations of sexism to a strong outcry of racism over his Obama Beach Ball work (there’s an interesting piece on Arrested Motion that puts those particular claims into context), Hoppek is never too far from controversy; although I think his works and intentions are similar to those of Sacha Baron Cohen – he drops the banana skin, and awaits the prejudiced to fall on it.

His latest incitement is a collaboration with Athens’ ATOPOS Contemporary Visual Culture, and runs ’til 17th June. Curated by Vassilis Zidianakis and Angelos Tsourapas, FULL OF LOVE portrays “Bimbo” – a character who symbolises sexuality in a world where each and every person has an individual sexual preference… cue themes of hetro/homo/sado, fetishes and autoeroticism; it’s mischievous, occasionally quite perverse, but always brilliant.
