Daluma

Berlin's wholesome Daluma offers up a tasty vegan alternative to endless fleshy fast food...

That disgusting old chestnut about the average carnivore having a kilo or two of undigested meat permanently stuck in their pipes is probably a load of nonsense, but there are times when even the most ardent meat eater feels like things might have gone one burger too far. Whether you’re committed to the vegan lifestyle, or just fancy laying off the fast food for a change of pace, Daluma in Berlin Mitte might be just what the proctologist ordered.

Given Germany’s love affair with the sausage, it’s a brave restaurant that declares itself a meat-free zone. Not only is Daluma vegan, but it takes things further as an advocate of the super raw superfood concept; ultra-healthy kale shakes and quinoa salads are among the attractions on the menu here. The food is as natural as possible, and the interior follows suit, with undyed textiles, unvarnished wooden seating and floors, and white walls as clean as your insides will be after doing a few shots of aloe vera and wheatgrass. There’s also a terrace at the front, should you want the world to see how virtuously you’re living.
