URBANAUTS has opened its latest Vienna address, hideauts hotels Villa R, set within the leafy cottage district of the city’s 19th district. Surrounded by embassies and grand villas, the Art Deco building offers a quieter counterpoint to the brand’s more central projects, trading urban buzz for space, light and calm.
Villa R is the largest URBANAUTS property in Vienna so far, with 19 rooms arranged across four floors. This is not a serviced apartment set-up, but a small hotel designed for switching off, with shared spaces that encourage slowing down and disconnection. Rooms are divided into three categories, including the Chic Garden View, which comes with a private balcony overlooking lush greenery.
Mornings are slow. Breakfast is served as a compact buffet, with a focus on organic produce, fresh pastries, savoury staples and good coffee. The ideal way to start the day properly. Later on, the lobby and lounge become social spaces, with comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere that suits an evening drink with friends, partners or fellow guests.
The setting is one of Villa R’s strongest assets. The hotel sits on the edge of Vienna’s vineyard belt, making it an ideal base for walking, wine tasting or simply exploring a slower side of the city. For guests wanting to travel further afield, a hotel-owned Mini Cooper is available to borrow for up to four hours at no extra cost, making spontaneous trips into the city or surrounding countryside easy.
The project was developed in collaboration with the Erich Schenkel Private Foundation, architects Hoppe+Partner ZT-GmbH, and interior designers Una Plant. Together, they’ve created a retreat that respects its history while keeping things comfortable and contemporary.
For those familiar with URBANAUTS’ grätzlhotels and STUDIOS, Villa R marks a shift in tone. This place is more about escape, a discreet address to experience a truly authentic side of Vienna.
