Method Co. return to Charleston with The Nickel Hotel, a refined new-build boutique property on the city’s vibrant King Street. Designed in collaboration with New York-based Morris Adjmi Architects and developed alongside Capital Square, the five-storey hotel comprises 50 rooms and suites; a serene courtyard; guest-only cocktail bar; beautiful library; and an intimate rooftop lounge, Rosemary Rose, which is set to debut later this month.
Located in the Cannonborough neighbourhood — once home to the city’s skilled tradesmen and now a hive of independent shops and nightlife — The Nickel pays tribute both to the area’s history and the French phrase ‘c’est nickel’ (it’s impeccable). The hotel blends contemporary comforts with Charleston’s architectural soul, from its ornate ironwork references to hand-clipped marble mosaics and antique French tapestries. Interiors include vintage and modern pieces, scalloped forms, and European influences to create an elegant visual dialogue between past and present.

The hotel’s heart is its lush courtyard, a calming sanctuary lined with terracotta hues, a wood-burning fireplace, classical fountain, and wrought iron detailing, softly lit by copper gas lanterns. Bar Daniel, a private guest lounge named after Cannonborough’s founder Daniel Cannon, features sage green velvet banquettes, antique mirror walls and a honed marble fireplace, serving everything from morning espresso to evening cocktails.
One floor above, The Parlour offers a moodier, club-like space for private events and listening sessions, with oak shelving, curated vinyl, and doors that open to a private balcony overlooking the courtyard. Once complete, Rosemary Rose will offer sweeping views across Charleston and the Ravenel Bridge from up on the hotel’s top floor.
Guest rooms channel the feel of a well-appointed residence, with light-filled interiors, full kitchens, dining areas, and in-room laundry. Select suites open onto private balconies overlooking the courtyard, while others offer arched windows facing King Street. Bathrooms offer a mix of rich tones and thoughtful detailing, with green tilework, custom vanities, and bronze fixtures.
Delivering a new chapter in the city’s ongoing renaissance, The Nickel Hotel is a staggering new property already feeling rich with old soul.
