Nailing List

Ian Stevenson's latest pointed work reserves special attention for internet marketeering...

If only I’d seen Ian Stevenson‘s illustration for Eau de Fashion Piss a couple of weeks ago, Mother’s Day would have been a breeze. The London artist’s acidic stab at pretentious perfumery is one example of his pithy outlook that can currently be seen at KK Outlet under the title Click Here to Unsubscribe, with marketing in the digital age taking a particularly vigorous attack at the point of Stevenson’s pencil.

Whether it be a cynical subversion of sloganeering (as seen in Mickey Mouse’s gleeful celebration of his corporate success), a friendly poke in the ribs for religion, or acerbic commentaries on reality TV or the dead-ends of the internet, Stevenson tackles it all with good humour and a super-accessible style that keeps things simple to get the message across clearly. The artist was last seen working with a different kind of Brand; he graced a wall of Shoreditch’s Village Underground for Russell Brand’s Revolution book launch, but if you prefer your art to be served up gallery style, head to the Hoxton Square venue between 3 and 25 April.
