Scotland Re:Designed has popped up with a festive pop up shop called Limited Edition to help promote Scottish fashion at Ocean Terminal, one of Edinburgh’s premium shopping centres.
More than 20 of the country’s most inspiring designers in womenswear, menswear, homeware and accessories have gathered together for three months to offer cutting-edge design which that should welcomed by those looking for something unique and quirky underneath their blinged-up trees. Participating independents and new talent include Buchanan Bespoke, Kennett Watches, Obscure Couture, Rhodesian of Edinburgh and Quiggleys.
Cathy Owen, Project Manager at Scotland Re-Designed said: “Our challenge is to bring exciting new work to the attention of as many potential customers as possible. There is a big market for people who want original innovative clothing and accessories.”
Designer Iona Crawford adds: “Being at the core of a busy shopping centre in the weeks leading up to Christmas is a perfect way of reaching new customers. Trading alongside other designers also communicates just how vibrant, eclectic and exciting the fashion business is in Scotland.” Since launching three years ago, the specialist trade body has been promoting young Scottish fashion and textile designers across the globe. Supported by Creative Scotland, it champions the indigenous fashion sector by organising workshops, exhibitions, buyer events and catwalk shows in places like Chicago, New York, London and Paris which attracts top buyers, journalists and industry figures.
Limited Edition will be open until the end of January 2015. It’s the first time Scotland: Re-designed has ventured in to high street retail and set up a store to target fashion lovers directly instead of talking to professional buyers.
