Greenheart Espresso

Feel the blood pressure ease at calming café in the heart of Sydney...

Outside, the hustle and bustle of Sydney’s busy Kent Street, inside the calming oasis of an urban forest. Although there’s no shortage of pep in the coffee, Greenheart Espresso is just the tonic for city workers to take things down a notch or two and reintroduce some tranquillity into their day.

What was once a run down hole-in-the-wall is now the green and pleasant space you see before you thanks to designer Matt Woods and owners Andrea Vagge and Fiona Bloomer. The central feature which holds the place together is a large wall mural of Birds of Paradise, taken from a drawing in the state library of New South Wales, with a fetching aquamarine wash over it and pretty much everything else, tiles included. Natural wood accents, echoed in the main flooring, breaks up the sea of green-blue. Menu-wise, everything is made in-house by Andrea, who treats customers to a slice of his Italian heritage with a daily pizza special.
