Oh Brother!

Nikolai and Simon Haas present some far out furniture...

Looking at the zoomorphic sofa that seems like it might swallow its guests, it’s a bit of a surprise to learn that designers Nikolai and Simon Haas began their journey studying stonemasonry with their dad in Austin, Texas. But they did. After starting out small on a couple of design and build projects for friends, in 2010 they were asked to contribute to something for Sony Studios with Los Angeles architecture firm Johnston Marklee, and whoosh! Career take off. The Haas Brothers became a thing.

Fast forward three years to this year’s Design Miami:Basel event and the brothers released their new collection of homeware creations with the help of R 20th Century. Some of this fun furniture isn’t for the shy and retiring type, with ostentatious gold legs poking out from under massive furballs, but in comparison the crocodile table is understated, and the vases positively ascetic. Gaining a big reputation in quick time, we look forward to following The Haas Brothers in their future projects.
