Dark Matter

Dark and disturbing exhibition challenges and repels in equal measure...

Taking its name from a fantasy-horror Ray Bradbury novel, which itself was inspired by a line from that most macabre of plays, Shakespeare’s Scottish one we can’t write the name of in case something bad happens, the collection of artistic works Something Wicked This Way Comes was always going to be a dark affair, and boy is it ever.

Curated by Stephanie Chefas, SWTWC is a surreal, twisted, and at times nightmarish trip into the imaginations of 10 mixed-media and graphic artists on display at Cella Gallery, North Hollywood. The artistic equivalent of eating a block of cheddar before bedtime, this is surrealism at its most unsettling, with distorted bodies, creepy creatures and contorted forms mashed together with fantasy and sci-fi elements. Compelling and repellent in equal measure, the collection is on display until 16th March, but you might prefer viewing our selection of images on your computer from behind the sofa.
