Mariska Meijers Flagship Store

Designer adds colour to the 9 Streets district...

Welcome to Amsterdam’s one-stop-shop for all your interior decorating needs, and not a Swedish meatball to be seen. Mariska Meijers‘ flagship store in the 9 Streets district is a far more boutique affair than the usual out-of-town warehouse style chain efforts, and her merchandise feels all the more exclusive for it.

Benefitting from Amsterdam’s happy knack of having beautiful old buildings all over the place, Meijers’ outlet is located in a 17th Century building near the Bloemenmarkt (flower market), so it’s entirely fitting that her collection is as colourful as it is. Whether you just want a conversation piece to liven up an otherwise minimalist interior, or you want to jump in feet first with a floor to ceiling decoration explosion, Meijers’ store has got the lot, from kitchenware through soft furnishings to original oil paintings. Starting out in 2006, the artist has since grown her export empire to include 15 countries worldwide, and her decision to put down roots in Amsterdam points to Meijers’ blossoming future being nothing but bright.
