Our attentions were first distracted by this delightful curiousity on a visit to Israel late last year. During a tour of Talents Design – a design collection/gallery aimed at manufacturing highly limited quantity art/design pieces by leading Israeli designers – Mad Cow was, for us, the real star of the show; a warped vision of reality, part artwork, part design piece – part hallucination – it was love at first sight with Samuel Ben Shalom’s wonderfully irreverent chair.
So, when the gallery’s owner Gal Gaon got in touch recently with these equally, yet brilliantly, disturbed images; we decided it was time, to share our infatuation with all. And so, here it is, in all its brave, unadulterated glory. A chair? A sculpture? Quite frankly it doesn’t matter, the Mad Cow has a life of its own, and long may it roam free…
