Inspired by the memories of his father’s industrial workshop, Rotterdam-based artist Ron Van Der Ende now creates inspired bas-relief sculptures from reclaimed wood in his own workshop. With their delicate painting like appearance , and perplexing 3D effect – van der Ende’s sculptures are, amazingly, not painted; instead using the found wood’s original colouring in an almost mosaic-like technique.

Toying with perspective, unless you see them first-hand, his artworks are as bewildering as they are beautiful – from the rawest of materials, van der Ende’s exquisite touch fashions a very surreal brand of realism…
