VNT Coffee Gallery, Madrid

VNT Coffee Gallery blends specialty drinks with art and design, reshaping a former electricity house into a considered cultural space...

In the heart of Malasaña, VNT Coffee Gallery transforms a former electricity house into a space where specialty coffee meets contemporary art and design. Eduardo Villalón Chafe (founder of MUT Design) and Fabien Peronnet (co-founder of Valencia‘s La Novieta Boutique Hotel) have reimagined the industrial building as a living gallery; a place that introduces a new cadence to city’s creative landscape, shaped by rotating exhibitions, paired-back design, and — of course — specialty coffee.

Minimalism defines the interior. Clean lines, soft natural light and uncluttered surfaces create a serene backdrop for the carefully curated drinks menu. From cold brew and matcha to hojicha and chai, each drink is prepared with precision and with respect for their origins; signature drinks favouring a sophisticated palette by balancing bitter, herbal and aromatic notes with an emphasis on subtlety.

Rotating exhibitions and installations subtly reshape the space over time, with textures, scents and visual interventions shifting to reinforce the idea that VNT is an evolving cultural platform rather than a static café. Coffee and creativity blend seamlessly, with baristas, designers and visiting artists all playing a role in the concept of redefining what a café can be.

The former electricity house retains traces of its industrial past, lending the space a subtle rawness that contrasts with the careful simplicity of the interior. Exposed surfaces, structural lines and the faint echo of history give the space a sense of authenticity that feels grounded in the city itself.

VNT Coffee Gallery stands apart in Madrid’s café scene, offering a measured, sensory approach to both coffee and culture. It is a space that rewards slowing down, inviting visitors to reconnect with their surroundings, with the ritual of a well-crafted drink, and with the quiet pleasures of discovery.
