Prepare for a nostalgic trip down memory lane as the Exhibition Hall at Brighton‘s Helm Gallery has been temporarily taken over by beloved Mr Men and Little Miss characters for the group exhibition: Mr Men Little Miss Reimagined, which can be viewed between now and 21 July.

Created by Roger Hargreaves, Mr Men started in 1971 with Mr. Tickle, before growing to a cast of over 90 characters including Mr. Perfect, Mr. Lazy, Mr. Cheerful and later, the likes of Little Miss Bossy, Little Miss Naughty, Little Miss Neat, Little Miss Sunshine and more. You might not, however, remember them like this.

Featuring artwork by Will Blood, Alex May Hughes, Euan Roberts, Pablo Dalas and Rory McQueen, the exhibition is the ultimate love-letter to a series whose enduring popularity has spanned generations and introduced millions of children across the world to literature and art. Through the mediums of painting and gilded glass, the artists reinterpret some of the 90 most recognisable characters across an eclectic mix of never-before-seen artwork and imagery; the show a varied one with cutting edge contemporary art at its core.

During the exhibition visitors have the opportunity to watch Will Blood create art live from the venue, paint with Euan Roberts, and meet Mr Men author and illustrator Adam Hargreaves — who took over the reigns after his father’s death in 1988 — in person for a custom drawing event. Although the exhibition is a free event, the workshops and events have varying fees.

Limited-edition prints and merchandise have been created for the exhibition, including t-shirts, tote bags, hoodies, and wall clocks, each of which will feature the specially designed artwork on view until 21 July.

Mr Men may have a 50 year plus heritage around the world, but this show guarantees to be “nothing like you have seen before.” A lovely group exhibition with reimagined characters and the chance to pick up some exclusive artwork, Mr Men Little Miss Reimagined takes those familiar characters to new places, but never loses their endearing and innocent playfulness.
