Chicago-based Owen + Alchemy’s seasonal cold-pressed juices, super food smoothies, concentrated shots, and herbal blends are reawakening the souls of hip Logan Square residents; with an occult nod to the spiritual alchemists of times gone by.
Served in all-glass custom-designed bottles with matte black labels, black metal caps, and the store’s name emblazoned below the neck, the ingredients within Owen + Alchemy‘s signature juices (and other salubrious products) are selected by working with purveyors who champion sustainable practices, farms dedicated to achieving the highest standards in responsible, and socially-conscious farming.
The wholesome apothecary is chef-driven, the much-acclaimed and much-travelled Gabe Lava joining proprietor Anne M. Owen, a publisher with a keen interest in conscious living (spurred on, no doubt, by being the daughter of a physician), who together have rewritten the rulebook on what exactly a juice bar can be.
Working with architect and designer Komal Kehar, alongside Potluck Creative, the space has been as well-conceived as the juices and organic foods on offer. A bespoke live-edge walnut communal table with fluorescent green geometric base dominates the space, whilst espresso herringbone wood floors, a symbolic high-gloss ‘alchemic wheel’ mural, and green cross installation (that allures from the street), will have you wondering if you’ve stepped into a perfumery, art space, or black magic science lab. Remarkable.
