Sickboy — Make It Last Forever at The Outsiders, London

Making Memories

Sickboy strives to create something permanent with his visual diary...

Now then, The Outsiders London has bagged itself a bit of a coup here and no mistake; the Greek Street venue has tempted Bristolian street art pioneer Sickboy out of his studio to make his first London gallery appearance with the Make It Last Forever exhibition. Of course, it helps when the The Outsiders founder is none other than urban art agent extraordinaire and fellow Bristolian Ste Lazarides, but still, it’s a treat for London street art fans to get to know Sickboy, who divides his time between studios in London and Barcelona, a little better through this highly personal show.

The multidisciplinary exhibition is all about trying to capture those fleeting, ephemeral moments in time that we would like to freeze and keep with us. Sickboy has been through his studios to gather together a collection of assemblages and objects picked up over the years, and in addition, the show features a typically colourful installation and appearances by his temple shrines, Superman, the Sickboy coffin and all manner of counterculture ephemera. Part archival tour, part meditation on the effects of time, Make It Last Forever comes to an end on 30 August.
