Wall of Sound

Print Club London's fifth annual poster show turns it up to 11 with music theme...

I haven’t had a music poster on my wall for donkey’s years, but looking at the collection assembled for the Blisters poster show has got me thinking about venturing up into the attic to dig out the old halls of residence decorations. I seem to remember having Bobs Dylan and Marley up there at one point, although they’ve probably bio-degraded by now, and it seems that things have moved on a bit in the field since then anyway.

This is the fifth annual Blisters event organised by Print Club London, and this year the show is back at the MC Motors warehouse in Dalston, London. Subtitled Sound Sessions, it’s all about the music: think gig posters, album art and rock stars. There are limited edition screen prints from 40 illustrators and graphic artists to enjoy – each contributor has provided one piece in a run of 40 prints which are on sale for £40 a pop. Names to look out for include Fred Deakin, Kate Gibb, Stanley Donwood, Terry Pastor and Jamie Reid, and their work will make its debut on opening night, 12 September. Also on the bill that evening will be a one-off gig from Fiction Records’ Meanwhile, and there will be screenings of a short film Bright Red about the printing process throughout the duration of the two-day event. Get your name on the list for opening night tickets.
