Owned by Camden Town Brewery founder Jasper Cuppaidge (whose empire started in the basement of this very boozer), the newly revamped Horseshoe in Hampstead is a bright craft beer house with a strong graphical approach. Naturally, the full range of Camden brews are on hand, but there’s a seasonal menu to put the gastro in this pub — proper stuff like potted shrimp; terrine; duck confit; steak and chips.
Designed by Simone McEwan, plenty of the Horseshoe’s old charm remains: “Japser wanted to keep the memories of the previous Horseshoe, so we kept the old chairs. What’s lovely about them is that the names on the back were painted on every time one of Jasper’s friends had a baby. That was a huge part of The Horseshoe story, which we wanted to keep”, she told us in an interview when the pub reopened earlier this year.
