Spray My Name

The king of old skool New York tagging takes his show on the road to Canada...

VFRESH, the graffiti artist formerly (and maybe currently) known as Veefer and VFR, has ventured north of the border from his native New York City to Toronto for his first Canadian exhibition. Like the devil of street art, the enigmatic writer has gone by many names over the years, but he has stayed consistent as one of the city’s most prolific graffitists. Starting out in the 1980s, he quickly became known for his tags, throw-ups and bombs, and examples of his signature work have been curated by Avi Gold for the North Star show, organised in conjunction with Sneeze Magazine and retailer Working Title.

Decades later VFRESH is a globally-recognised artist, yet still nothing is safe from his spraycan nozzle. As well as framed artworks the exhibition contains examples of his interventions on signs, posters and timetables. North Star is being held at the Working Title retail space on Davenport Road until 20 July.
