This isn’t a hotel in a trenchcoat that leans nonchalantly against a lamppost smoking a Gauloises, indifferently attractive through understated magnetism, but rather one that kicks its legs up in the air to bawdy music, brazenly baring its frilly knickers for all to see.
Yes, Original Hotel (we like the name, very… what’s the word I’m looking for?) doesn’t do half measures, instead opting to throw everything and the kitchen sink at the wall and seeing what sticks, which is most of it, as it turns out. Designer Stella Cadente had certainly had her morning espresso when sitting down to brainstorm this one.
Described by the hotel owners as “unconventional”, Cadente has created colourful and extravagant accommodation with boutique individuality. Witness the playing card curtains, and the huge fashion photographs on the ceilings. Even the understated rooms, such as the all-white one pictured here, come with an ultra-violet surprise at night.
You can find Original Hotel, aka Hotel Original, near the Place de la Bastille.
