Battersea Art Station

Iconic London behemoth the inspiration for Battersea Arts Centre's free weekend of art and creativity...

This weekend Battersea Arts Centre will be swinging open its doors for a art event featuring over 400 works of art from amateur to professional artists the world over. These pieces — celebrating London icon Battersea Power Station and its cultural importance past and present — are a curated selection from over 350 artists, and will be available to buy; prices ranging from £2 to £10,000 … that’s a whole load of budget suitability covered right there.

The works, a mix of black and white photography; poetry; film; contemporary neon light-works; classic oil paintings; and cast iron sculptures will be previewed on Friday with the opportunity to purchase during Saturday and Sunday — 20% of sales will go to BAC Beatbox Academy, Theatre503 and World Heart Beat Music Academy.

A family festival, there’s a heap of fun events for the kids (and us bigger kids) throughout the weekend — a 3D LEGO Power Station Build; live print-making; interactive performances; film screenings, as well as a tasty Sunday Brunch from 10am on the final day. Open daily from 10am to 5pm, 25—27 September, this is an opportunity to admire and purchase inspiring art in equally inspiring surrounds.
