The Northern Quarter, Manchester, and local favourite Kosmonaut was last week the venue for a very different kind of dog show; Manchester’s rainy, cobbled streets home to the sort of thing you’d expect to see at Crufts. For one night only, a troupe of the north west’s finest pooches descended on the bar in celebration of a forthcoming publication by local photographer, Georgie Glass.

Set to be released towards the end of the year by Freight Publishing, Pub Dogs of Manchester needs little explanation — celebrating the city’s dog-friendly watering holes, and their four-legged clientele. Good news for fans of panting pets who couldn’t make it to the show, Kosmonaut’s Instagram account will continue to host the ‘best-in-show’ competition until Thursday this week, with a like-based winner proving that even animals can’t escape the public popularity contest we know as ‘social media’. Scary.
