If your ideas about Peckham come solely from repeats of Only Fools and Horses, then you are decades out of date! Whichever side of the gentrification fence you’re sitting on – thanks to its influx of artists, the South London neighbourhood is an increasingly modern, vibrant place, with more to it than meets the eye – places such as Pedler in Peckham Rye are leading the area’s renaissance, run by Peckham natives with a passion to put SE15 on the map for all the right reasons.
Owner Taskin Muzaffer and Executive Chef Gareth Crosby share a vision for seasonally influenced food, sourced from local firms including butchers Allen’s of Mayfair, The Bread Factory, and Little Bird Gin (as well as a range of cocktails, the citrus and ginger-infused spirit also finds its way into some special sausages from Flock and Herd). The dining environment pairs stripped back brick, unvarnished parquet flooring and salvaged furniture with new additions such as the marble counter top. Vintage elements appear in the form of the early 20th Century drinks cabinets and retro wallpaper in a snug to the rear.
