Bad to the Bone

Barking-mad Skull Paradise collective let The Gravehounds loose in Manchester...

There’s a new gang in town, and word on the street is that they are some badass motherfuckers. The Gravehounds are a biker gang who have set up their new clubhouse at one of our favourite spots, Common in Manchester, and they have already got tongues and tails wagging with their bad attitude and even badder behaviour. Once domestic dogs, these mutts grew some nuts, slipped their leashes and set out on the open road, eventually banding together to form a formidable pack who live for hedonistic depravity.

The Gravehounds of Bone Street are the creation of Skull Paradise, a collective made up of illustrators James Burgess, Sophy Hollington, Kate Prior, Pippa Toole and, erm, Idiot’s Pasture. With a couple of successful shows in London under their belt, the crew have headed north for the first time, transforming Common into the imaginary hangout for their degenerate dogs. Leather biker patches and prints line the walls here, accompanied by some anarchic canine graffiti marking out the pack’s territory and putting neighbourhood cats on notice that there is trouble around the corner. The Gravehounds are planning to stick around until February 2015.
