Classy Edwardian hotel reaches for the stars with A-list accommodation...

Is your personal assistant having trouble finding a London hotel that can accommodate the tour entourage? We know, you just can’t get the staff. When you’ve finished having the wretch whipped, point them in the direction of Rosewood London in Holborn. The newly completed £85 million venue has a wing of six interconnecting rooms that transform into a super-suite when taken together. It comes with its own street entrance, lift, and it’s the only hotel suite in the world with its own postcode. Now that’s showbiz. Coincidentally, did we mention Rosewood is an American company?

For everyone who’s not Mariah Carey there is less sizeable accommodation, but New York-based interior designer Tony Chi has ensured there’s an even layer of swank spread throughout. Original features of the Edwardian belle epoch building, formerly the headquarters of Pearl Assurance located where the City and West End shake hands, have been lovingly restored, including the façade and a six-storey marble staircase. There’s plenty more of that lovely stone – an estimated £40 million worth of it can be found forming pillars, surrounding original fireplaces and in new bathrooms, and other materials such as glass and dark veneered wood do their bit for the overall period ambience.
