The Hotel De Paris, St Tropez, has a life story worthy of its cinematic heritage. Built in the Roaring Twenties, this Mediterranean glamour palace was a landmark on the map of high society – movers and shakers of the French New Wave movement of the 1950s, jet-setters of the ’60s and ’70s – before a slow decline and eventual closure in 1992. Thankfully for this swanky venue that was not the final act. Despite more than 20 years walled up and mothballed, The Hotel de Paris is back – and more glamorous than ever.

Local architecture firm François Vieillecroze was called in to re-imagine the space behind the traditional Provençal façade. The work took two years to complete, but worth the wait we think you’ll agree. In came Sybille de Margerie with an interior based around 5 colour themes, employing a nicely 70s mix of print fabrics and tie-dye curtains, and the furniture is from Knoll, B&B Italia and Vladimir Kagan. Now a member of the Preferred Hotel Group, Hotel de Paris is one comeback we’re happy to say is a critical success.
